Sunday of Norway/ church or others activities?
Norwegian people are very interested in going out specially during the week end. Most of youth people are used to do their activities away from church every sundays. It does mean that they aren't christian. Norway is Christian coutry but it is not common to talk about God everywhere. Why? why? why? Untill now I don't know yet. I will give you some thoughts about that afterward. I have been living here in NORWAY for 6 weeks. I try to find out what really happens here in Mandal. I can see that the church is good, so it's very interesting to enter in. The landscape is clean and green (outside the church). After the service people can have coffee or tea with cake. Inside the church there are lot of comfortable chairs which you can enjoy the preaching without little pain. There is music to increase your feeling: the piano, the guitar, etc. You are not obliged to dress nicely, just what you like. It's not shameful if you don't stand up and go for offering to GOD.
So what is the reason? Do you know?
Let me to tell you few thoughts about it.
You Norwegians know very much that you make plan in your life, right? Ok! it means that your activities are very importent. And you are running after time, right? That's good and I like it. From Monday until Friday almost all Norwegian are busy for their works or some activities else. Then it is normal for human being to need rest or making fun with friends. The Norwegians can't do that during their workdays. They try to fill out the lack of fun during the weekend. Consequently the youth people prefer to go out or stay for fun instead to go to church every Sundays. And for the elder people as they don't have enough fun they go to pray. This case is normal for me, it couldn't be surprising for you. May be being christians or believers doesn't mean you have to go to church because you can pray wherever and whenever. Do you agree?
